Bev May , Morrinsville – New Zealand

Posted on

Hi

We think this is 1962 bike.

Bev May from Morrinsville New Zealand was the first kiwi lady to take out a racing license, she was 16 yo. This caused quite a stir back in the 60’s and some how Mercian UK heard about it. They got in contact with Bev and wanted to sponsor her a frame (in the picture). Once sent over a local bike shop decided they had to sponsor all the parts and that is how Bev got her bike!

Bev has just been awarded a Queens Service award for 60years in the sport and service to cycling, which is pretty good. So the bike is getting a birthday.
