Bob’s Renovation project

Posted on

Hi,

This is to say thanks to everybody who worked on my frame renovation earlier in the year!

I have attached an image of the bike in its present form and here are some details...

Frame 45960. I acquired this as a made up bike in 1966 from another member of my club - Uxbridge Wheelers (shortly to become Hillingon CC in 1967).
I raced on it until I moved from the area in 1967 and continued to use the bike for many years.
This winter I decided it was high time it had a professional renovation (I had made a terrible job of respraying it back in the 70's when I was a poor student!). Of course it had to come back to Mercian and what a job the lads made on it! I always liked the 'understated' look the frame originally had so went for a simple colour scheme as you can see in the photo.
Now fitted out with mostly period parts although the chainset / pedals have been changed to something more modern as I actually want to ride it here in the North Pennines!
It is now regularly ridden and clocking up the miles again - a few weeks back saw me in the Wooler Wheel 100k sportive 46 years on from the first events I rode it in!

Keep up the good work!
Bob
